THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION BY EXTENSION (TEE)
We no longer offer a full-time residential training program. Instead we offer an extension program called the ‘Theological Education by Extension’. TEE is financially viable, i.e. it is cheaper. Secondly, it eliminates the problem of extraction where students are not removed from their home, ministry and work for the period of study. Furthermore, it is contextually appropriate where it seeks to teach ministry in context.
Therefore, it is through TEE that Bimbadeen takes training to the Aboriginal people. “Archbishop Desmond Tutu describes TEE as one of the most creative and widespread movements of theological education in our time.”
Three elements are essential to the TEE program. First is the Self-Study materials to enable the student to learn at home. Second is the practical work in student’s own church and third, regular encounters or seminars with other TEE students under the guidance of a trained TEE Tutor to promote fellowship and inspiration.
Our TEE program basically covers four areas of study. 1. Bible, 2. Theology, 3. Discipleship and 4. Ministry.
